Venous Disease

Venous disease involves disorders of the veins, which return blood from the body back to the heart. When veins do not function properly—often due to faulty valves or obstruction—blood can pool in the legs, leading to symptoms such as swelling, aching, heaviness, skin changes, or ulcers.

Mr Kareem Osman diagnoses and treats a wide range of venous conditions, including varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, spider veins, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), post-thrombotic syndrome, and venous ulcers.

Treatment options range from conservative measures such as compression therapy and medication to minimally invasive procedures including endovenous ablation, sclerotherapy, and venous stenting. Effective treatment can significantly improve comfort, mobility, skin health, and overall quality of life.

Venous Conditions

  • Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that often appear on the legs. They can cause aching, heaviness, swelling, or skin changes.

Dr. Osman will assess your veins, discuss symptoms, and tailor treatment options to improve comfort and appearance.

  • Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when veins cannot efficiently return blood to the heart. This can cause swelling, pain, skin discoloration, or ulcers.

Dr. Osman will evaluate your circulation and recommend individualized strategies to manage symptoms and prevent complications.

  • Spider veins are small, visible veins near the skin’s surface. They may cause mild discomfort or cosmetic concern.

Dr. Osman will examine your veins and guide you through safe, effective treatment options suited to your needs.

  • DVT is a blood clot in a deep vein, usually in the legs. It can cause swelling, pain, or redness and may lead to serious complications.

Dr. Osman will promptly evaluate your condition and recommend the safest management plan.

  • Post-thrombotic syndrome is a long-term complication after a deep vein clot, causing leg swelling, pain, or skin changes.

Dr. Osman will assess your circulation and create a personalized management plan to improve comfort and prevent further issues.

  • Venous ulcers are open sores that develop when veins cannot return blood effectively. They often occur near the ankles and can be slow to heal.

Dr. Osman will investigate the underlying cause and provide a tailored plan to promote healing and prevent recurrence.

  • A portacath is a small, implantable device placed under the skin to provide long-term, reliable access to veins for medications or chemotherapy.

Dr. Osman will explain the procedure, assess your veins, and ensure safe placement with personalized care and follow-up.

  • Venous thoracic outlet syndrome occurs when a vein is compressed between the collarbone and first rib, leading to swelling, pain, or discoloration in the arm.

Dr. Osman will evaluate your circulation, order imaging, and discuss personalized strategies to relieve symptoms safely.
