About Mr Kareem Osman

Mr Kareem Osman is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon who has completed comprehensive training in modern vascular practice of both Open and Endovascular Surgery. He currently holds a full-time position at Auckland City Hospital. His private practices is at Allevia Hospital as well as IntraCare.

Mr Osman was awarded the Otago University Academic Scholarship after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBioMedSc) majoring in physiology and pharmacology. He subsequently completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at Otago University spending his clinical years at Wellington Hospital. After developing a passion for Vascular Surgery, Mr Osman completed his training around large tertiary centres in NZ. He undertook his advanced training in vascular surgery at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital followed by Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, after which he was awarded his fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Following training he was the successful recipient of the Sam Mellick travelling fellowship award from the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery and spent time at Oxford University Hospitals as well as Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital in London under the tutelage of Professor Stephen Black, learning techniques in treating complex venous disease. Mr Osman has a special interest in complex venous disease, open and endovascular management of aortic and peripheral vascular disease, carotid disease and renal access.  

Mr Osman enjoys medical education and holds an appointment as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Auckland University where he is involved in the training and assessment of medical students. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and regularly participates in both local and international conferences as an invited faculty member.
